Research Interests
- Biodiversity conservation
- Stability and resilience of ecosystem functions
- Climate change impacts
- Interdisciplinary research in tropical and temperate agricultural landscapes
I am an agroecologist with an interest in interdisciplinary research in biodiversity conservation, the role of biodiversity for ecosystem functioning, and the impacts in human activities, especially in agricultural landscapes. Over the years, I have worked on many different taxa both in tropical and temperate regions, but I have a special love for pollinators and the landscapes of tropical Africa.
At the University of Hohenheim, I collaborate on projects that investigate biodiversity in agricultural landscapes, both in Germany (the NOcsPS project) and abroad (the BRIGHT-futures project), as well as developing my own research ideas. In addition, I support PhD and MSc students doing their thesis projects in the group as well as teach in courses for which the group is responsible.
Before coming to Hohenheim, I did a postdoc at SLU (Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet) in Uppsala, Sweden, investigating climate-change impacts on the resilience of natural enemy communities and natural pest control across Europe. Before that, I did my PhD at the University of Würzburg where I investigated the effects of land-use and agroecological practices on biodiversity and ecosystem services on smallholder farms in Malawi.
